Thank you for your interest in lessons and classes at Community School of the Arts! We are committed to making the registration process smooth, swift and convenient for all of our parents and students. Process
Please note that registrations are not complete until the School has received payment. The
School strongly encourages online registration for group classes for faster processing. At this time, private music lesson students must first contact the Registrar for placement
at 704.887.0291, and register by paper form, available here. Group classes, workshops and camps are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration Fees
In addition to tuition, the School assesses a $15 per student registration fee; this fee
remains $15 regardless of how many classes a student takes. This registration fee is non-refundable if a student withdraws from a program. To Our New Private Music Lesson Students
We match our new students with faculty very carefully, considering age, ability, personality,
schedule and location. The placement process includes: • Please complete the online Private Music Lesson Inquiry form in the “Lessons and Classes”
section of this web site. • The School’s Registrar, Shalonda Williams Davis, will contact you to discuss faculty availability
and to find the best match for you or your child. • Once placement is made for a specific instructor, day, time and location, Ms. Davis will send
to you an email link with instructions on how to register online. Financial Aid
Community School of the Arts provides need-based financial assistance to students based on
the availability of funds. The financial aid application deadline for summer 2010 camps and lessons is May 10, 2010. Click here to access and print the financial aid application. Payment Policy
Tuition is due at the time of registration. Full payment may be made by check, money order or
credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express, with all payments running through a secure PayPal server. For private music lessons students, the School offers an automatic credit card installment plan for fees of more than $200 total. The installation plan requires an initial payment of 50% at the time of registration, with three additional equal installments due February 15th, March 15th and April 15th. The installment plan is available only to credit card users. Missed Lessons
Once enrolled, students are expected to attend all lessons. The School has a no make-up policy:
If a student misses a lesson or class, Community School of the Arts will not issue a refund, and instructors are not required to teach make-up sessions. If a class or lesson is cancelled due to teacher illness or teacher emergency, the teacher will schedule a make-up lesson at no additional cost to the student. Refunds
For private lessons: A partial refund is available for private lessons if the student withdraws before
the third lesson. After the third lesson, no refunds will be given. For group classes and summer camps: Refunds are not available unless students request the refund before the start of the first class. Once a group class or camp has begun, no refunds will be given. Inclement Weather
Community School of the Arts follows the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools closing policy for
inclement weather. In the event of bad weather, parents should check local television and radio stations to determine whether CMS schools are closed or open. Lessons or classes cancelled due to weather will be made up at a later date at no additional cost. |
