Tim Lemmond Scholarship Announcement

JANUARY 15, 2013: Community School of the Arts, Tosco Music Party and Children’s Home Society will announce the two inaugural Tim Lemmond Music Scholarship recipients on Saturday, January 26 at the Tosco Music Party. These two students will receive weekly private music lessons from an instructor at Community School of the Arts in the instrument of their choosing, nurturing their confidence, creativity and belief in their own gifts and talents.

The Scholarship Fund was established by friends and family to honor the memory of musician and psychologist Tim Lemmond. The fund will make free, high-quality music lessons available to children served by the Children’s Home Society, a nonprofit agency providing support to biological, foster and adoptive families. In his professional life as a psychologist, Tim felt privileged to work with these children as they navigated the foster care and adoption systems, and his family and friends have generously established this scholarship to bring the joy of music lessons to the children he loved helping. In his musical life, Tim experienced the profound sense of connection and healing that music can bring to us all.

The Tim Lemmond Legacy Concert took place on Sunday, October 7 in the McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square. Through the Legacy Concert and donations, over $14,500 was raised from over 100 donors for the Scholarship Fund. The evening honored the memory of Tim Lemmond through performances of Tim’s original music by outstanding local musicians and was a testament to the lasting impact Tim had on so many lives, as well as a profound lesson in living a life centered on helping others.

We look forward to introducing the two scholarship recipients on January 26. To make a gift to the Fund, visit www.csarts.org/support-csa and reference Tim Lemmond in the Gift Note section. For information about Tosco Music Party, visit www.toscomusicparty.com.
