June 15, 2012: Community School of the Arts is pleased to invite you to a Graduation Recital for Julia Van Patter on Monday, June 18 at 7 PM in the McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square. The recital will be a celebration of Julia's accomplishments on both the piano and harp.
Julia comes from a musical family and began playing the harp at age 3 in Bette Roth’s Suzuki Harp Studio, before also studying with Jacquelyn Bartlett at CSA. At age 13, Julia became interested in developing her piano skills. She studied sporadically with Dr. Joseph DiPiazza at UNCG and, two years ago, won a Merit Scholarship from CSA and became a student of Dzidra Reimanis. While studying at CSA, Julia has received the Sara Wyche Higgins Scholarship (twice) and the President’s Scholarship. Julia played harp in the Charlotte Symphony Junior Youth Orchestra and Providence High School Orchestra. Julia is a 2012 graduate from Providence High School and plans to start her freshman year at Grove City College in Pennsylvania this fall as a piano performance major.
The recital will feature both piano and harp pieces by Beethoven, Schumann, Faure, Grandjany and Tournier, among others.
