REGISTRATION AND SCHOOL POLICIES

We are delighted that you plan to study with us this spring at the Community School of the Arts.  Please note that classes and lessons are filled on a first come, first served basis – so register now! Class size is limited and students will not be considered registered until payment of at least 50 percent is made for private lessons. For group classes, full payment is due at the time of registration. A family discount is available for private music lessons only for each subsequent family member after the first student has registered. A $20.00 early-registration discount is available for private music lessons if we receive your registration form by Jan. 7. Discounts may not be combined.

NOTE TO NEW PRIVATE MUSIC STUDENTS
We take great care in placing students with the most appropriate faculty member to foster interest and talent development. The process for enrollment is as follows:

• Call 704.887.0291 to set up a phone appointment with the Program Director to discuss placement. 

• Confirm placement and class time with instructor. 

• Complete and return registration form as outlined above.  

FINANCIAL AID
Financial assistance is offered based on need and on the availability of funds. Funds available for financial assistance vary by semester.  Students must apply for financial aid each year. The application deadline for spring 2008 is December 10, 2008. For more information, call 704-887-0291.

TUITION PAYMENT POLICY
Tuition is due at the time of registration. Full payments may be made by check, money order or credit card. (We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express). Installment payments are available using a credit card only for fees of more than $200.00. For the installation plan, an initial payment of 50 percent is due at registration, 25 percent is due on March 15, and the final 25 percent is due on April 15.

POLICIES 

Missed lessons – Once enrolled, students are expected to attend all lessons. Community School of the Arts has a no-makeup policy if the student misses the lesson. If a class is cancelled due to teacher illness or emergency, the teacher will reschedule the lesson.

Refunds – A partial refund is available for private lessons if the student gives notice to withdraw before the third lesson. After the third lesson, no refunds will be given. No refunds will be given on group classes if requested later than one week prior to the class start date.

Holiday and inclement weather – Community School of the Arts follows the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools closing policy for all holidays and inclement weather.  (The School does not, however, have lessons on CMS teacher workdays.)  In case of inclement weather, please check the local news.
