Community School of the Arts Receives
Operating Grant from NC Arts Council
Charlotte, NC, September 8, 2006 - Community School of the Arts has
received an operating grant for the fiscal year 06/07 from the North Carolina
Arts Council in Raleigh. The grant of $25,000 will be used to support
and make accessible the School’s core programming including Private
Music lessons; Beginning Orchestra and Band; and Pre- School visual arts
curriculum.
The Community School of the Arts, headquartered in Spirit Square is celebrating
its 36th Anniversary since being founded in 1969 by Henry Bridges in the
First Presbyterian Church. CSA has been nationally accredited by the National
Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and offers high quality arts instruction
to all regardless of ability to pay. The North Carolina Arts Council has
recognized CSA contributions to the Charlotte region in developing talent
and using art to build healthy communities.
Community School of the Arts is a non- profit organization that provides
high quality youth and family arts education. Classes in visual arts,
private music, orchestra and band, pottery, and Saturday family arts workshops
are taught in an environment with a curriculum that enables students of
diverse backgrounds to achieve their highest potential. Community School
of the Arts receives operating support from the Arts and Science Council.
