Community School of the Arts Celebrates Record-Breaking Summer Enrollment
Suzuki Camp up 50%, Piano Camp full, additional week of Pottery Camp added to meet demand 

Community School of the Arts’ summer music and visual arts programs have surpassed all previous enrollment records, according to president and executive director Andrea J. Stevenson.  More than 400 students have taken private music lessons and/or attended the School’s eight weeks of specialty camps in Suzuki strings, band and orchestra, pottery, preschool arts, and piano this summer.

“We are thrilled to be serving more students than ever this summer,” Stevenson said.  “The School’s recent growth is continuing because our outstanding faculty make every lesson, class and camp enriching and fun.”

Highlights from Community School of the Arts’ 2007 summer programs include:

• 50% increase (over summer 2006) in enrollment at Suzuki Violin Camp

• 62% increase in enrollment at Preschool Arts Camps

• 57% increase in enrollment in Pottery Camps, resulting in an additional week added to accommodate student interest

• 6% increase in private music lesson enrollment

• New piano camp that filled to capacity its first summer

• 19% overall increase in summer participation over 2006

Community School of the Arts’ (CSA) mission is to provide artistic experiences that enrich lives, cultivate imagination and foster the development of healthy communities.  We offer private instruction in 20 different instruments, band, orchestra, visual arts (including pottery), ArtsReach (community outreach program), Early Arts (Pre-School Art Lab, Music Together and Music Around), Music Therapy, family workshops and summer camps.  Henry Bridges founded CSA in 1969 with 20 students at First Presbyterian Church.  Henry’s vision was to provide music instruction to students who couldn’t afford lessons.  Today CSA serves over 1700 students, in over 30 locations with a diverse faculty of 35 who provide the highest quality instruction.
