Community School of the Arts awarded African American Community Grant

March 24, 2005. The Community School of the Arts has received a grant from the African American Community Foundation to support the Henry Bridges Piano Lab in the inner city Belmont community. The grant is made to purchase new piano lab equipment and piano method books to be used as the Community School of the Arts moves their current piano lab out of Piedmont Counts into another location in the Belmont inner city neighborhood. The Henry Bridges Piano Lab was begun by the school’s founder and now teaches over 22 individual students in private music study and piano instruction. The piano lab offers a location for instruction as well as practice for these students in fragile neighborhoods. A Spring recital for the current students is being planned.
