City of Charlotte proclaims November 9 as Community
School of the Arts Day
Mayor Pat McCrory is recognizing the 35th anniversary of Community School
of the Arts and their rich contribution to Charlotte by declaring November
9 as Community School of the Arts day throughout Charlotte. The Community
School of the Arts was created in 1969 at First Presbyterian Church lead
by Henry Bridges. Today, the Community School is an independent not for
profit organization headquartered in Spirit Square. The Community School
of the Arts provides high quality music and arts instruction to all and
currently has over 600 students in various locations throughout the county.

Community School of the Arts is a non-profit organization that provides
quality youth arts education and a family focused appreciation of the
arts. Classes in visual arts, dance, drama, and music are taught in an
