artsreach

Community School of the Arts ensures that its programs reach every corner of its community through ArtsReach, the 750-student program offering free chorus, piano and art classes to low-income students who could not otherwise afford CSA programs. These after-school classes include:

* piano and chorus classes at Seigle Avenue Partners;

* piano and chorus classes at First Baptist Church West;

* visual arts classes for children, teens and senior citizens at The Bethlehem Center;

* summer chorus and art classes at every Freedom School site;

* art therapy classes for homeless children at Charlotte Emergency Housing.

ArtsReach programs are generously supported by a grant from First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, as well as operating grants from the Arts and Science Council and the North Carolina Arts Council.

Community demand for these free programs is enormous, and Community School of the Arts is seeking funds for a major ArtsReach expansion to more sites and more students.
