Altered Found Objects and Assemblage for Adults
For the artist, collector, or novice who loves odd thrift store finds and funky décor, this class will be the perfect introduction to making art from found objects and assemblage. We take as our inspiration artists from the 1950’s and 60’s, such as Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, whose sculptures are found throughout Charlotte’s museums and public art spaces. Learn the basics of how to glue and paint, stencil and stamp, break apart and recombine everyday objects made from wood, ceramic, or plastic using simple tools and basic power tools. Experimentation and fun are the only rules as we reimagine everyday stuff into unique works of art. This class pairs well with “Collage and Mixed Media” or “Exploring the Artist’s Journal”.
