Exploring the Artist's Journal for Adults

description

Every artist has a unique way of engaging with and recording the visual world. Creating and filling an artist’s journal is an expressive and thoughtful way for art students to open up their current studio practice and for beginners to explore their creative side. This class begins with making a simple artist’s notebook from paper and found materials. We will then venture out from our Spirit Square studio and explore the cultural landscape of Uptown Charlotte, filling our journals with sketches, collage, and creative writing in response to what we see. Each week of this six week class will introduce new drawing materials that travel well (watercolor pencils, brush markers, and stamp pads, just to name a few…) as we visit area parks and cultural spots, journal in hand. This is a great class for newcomers to the Charlotte area or for locals who want to see the city with fresh eyes. This class pairs well with "Drawing for Adults” or “Collage and Mixed Media.”
